Tips for memorial gifts
- Name one charity, or two at most. It's easier for friends and makes a bigger difference.
- Use the full name and a working link. Many charities have similar names. Most have a "give in memory" option that tells the family who gave, without the amount.
- Choose research well. If you want gifts to fund research on the illness, check that the charity funds research and ask it to direct memorial gifts there. How to choose a research charity.
- Thank people within a few weeks. Charities send you a list of memorial gifts; a short note is enough.
